The WORKS modular 3-piece Exhale series exhaust components allow EVO enthusiasts to quickly and easily mix and match the Exhale DP (Down Pipe), IP (Intermediate Pipe), and AB (Axle Back) with the factory EVO VIII exhaust components. All of our jigs are created using the factory exhaust pieces to ensure a precise and perfect fit every time. Exhale DP: Using 70mm T-304 Stainless Steel with a unique thermal ceramic coating both inside and out, the Exhale DP keeps the heat in rather than radiating it outwards. By keeping the heat in the tubing, the Exhale DPs thermal coatings prevents the intense heat from reaching the factory oil pan, as well as maximizes the velocity of exhaust gases (exhaust gases slow down as they cool). Just as importantly, by keeping the heat where it belongs, the WORKS Exhale DP ensures that the factory catalytic converter is promptly lit off for improved emissions control performance. Extensive testing has shown that an Evo with the stock turbo and O2 housing produces more power with a 70mm downpipe than a 76mm downpipe. This is due to minimizing abrupt gas expansion which cools the exhaust gases rapidly and creates undesirable turbulence. As would be expected from WORKS parts, the Exhale DP has no clearance issues with the factory cross braces and maintains appropriate clearances from the factory oil pan. We take the stock EVO muffler and modify it in-house to produce the most power with the littlest noise. We cut open the stock muffler, modify the internals for more direct, unobstructed flow, reweld with stainless steel wire, and repaint to the factory color. Viola, you have a muffler that looks stock, sounds almost stock, fits perfectly, and produces more power. The gains are not as impressive as with the Exhale AB (9HP vs. 12HP) but worth the sound reduction if you're not looking for extra attention.
